[Musician Interview]  Key to be the 1st place in chart for 2 weeks straight?

Q. Hello, please introduce yourself a little bit.

A. Hello everyone, I’m Good Girl who makes good music.

 I’m an artist crossing lines from background music to pop genres, and also create cryptic arts other than music.

Q. What was your journey to becoming an composer?

 A.In my high school days, I encountered with Park Jin Young’s ‘Who’s your mama?’, ‘You’re The One’, ‘Swing Baby’ and wanted to try composing music on my own. So I started writing songs with piano.

 

 

Q. What is your main genre that you work on?

 A.Mainly I write background music and pop vibes, which contains strings, woods, brass and percussion in orchestra scores or mainly in piano, emotional ballads and vivid medium tempo songs.

Q. How did you get to know about SellBuyMusic and publish your music?

 A.My colleague who is now in Korean Military suggested me that it is a no.1 platform to publish YouTube music so I gave it a try.

 

 

Q. Any tips for being nominated frequently on weekly downloads?

 A.Ranked No.1 in hottest chart for 2 weeks in a row, Good Girl’ - Clumsy!

It’s embarrassing for me to say this... (Haha) I mainly focus on writing catchy melodies. It’s a bit abstract to explain, but I focus on non-abstracting, an easy going melodies. Firstly I make the melodies which are the stem of the song, and then I arrange it later.

 

 

Q. Is there any know-how when you usually write songs?

A.Firstly, I refer to many concepts of songs or vibes of them. Reference means ‘referring to’, in short, reference tracks. I make songs referring to reference tracks, and even get ideas from them.

 

 

 

 

Q. Where do you get the inspiration when you write songs?

A.

1. I write songs based on concepts, topics and lyrics I usually wanted to write or as soon as it comes up to my mind.

 And then when it gets stuck, I listen to music.

2. When I don’t have anything specific to do 

 1) Listen to latest songs.

 2) Listen to music by certain musicians that I like or performers.

 3) Search specific lyrics on YouTube or music platforms and listen to them all the way.

 4) Like number 3 I get ideas from YouTube videos.

 

 

Q. Was there any hard time during having your career as a musician?

 A. I think my dark tunnel was times when I was preparing for applied music college exam. It was low in chance of being selected and very competitive, and yet if unlucky I could be dropped depending on the professors’ likes. I felt like hardly believing in myself everyday walking through an endless tunnel thinking of the silver lining. The most conscious thing was ‘Am I doing this right?’ like others worry about.

People who work as creators are mostly freelancers, and don’t have fixed income.

So I was worried about my future… nowadays I believe that me from not faraway future will somehow solve things out well eventually. (Haha)

 

 

Q. Any goals so far as an artist? 

A. I want to be an artist that creates contents including obviously quality songs, quality writing and films. Therefore give other people courage, comfort them, and be helpful for them. Lastly, make tons of money. (Laughs)
